ROUND CUSHION WITH SMOCK is worked in 2 strands of MIDNATSSOL or 2 strands of MÅNESTRÅLE, and worked from the center and out. The work starts on double pointed needles, but a change to circular needles is made, when needed.
_________________________________________________________________
Measurements: The cushion cover’s finished measurements, before mounting, is approx. 37 cm in diameter.

Yarn: 2 strands of MIDNATSSOL from CaMaRose.dk.

Yarn alternative: 2 strands of MÅNESTRÅLE from CaMaRose.dk.

Yarn requirement: 4 skeins. Applies to both qualities.

Suggested needle size: Four 4.5 mm double pointed needles and two 4.5 mm circular needles (60 cm or longer).

Gauge: The cushion cover is worked in the round from the center and out, therefore it is only possible to measure the gauge at the end of the work. It is recommended to knit at swatch, as described below.

The gauge: Approx. 24 sts x 24 rows per 10 x 10 cm slightly stretched, on the 2, 2 smock part (rnd 34). From rnd 35 and forward, a 2, 2 rib is worked. On this part the gauge is 18 sts per 10 cm.

Swatch: Making a swatch before casting on is recommended to ensure that you are using the needle size that will give you the right fit. This swatch consists of a 2, 2 smock, that is worked back and forth.

The swatch: Using 4.5 mm circular needle and 2 strands of Midnatssol or Månestråle, cast on 34 sts and work as follows:

Row 1 (WS): *K2, p2*, repeat from * to* until 2 sts left on the needle, k2.

Row 2 (RS): K1 (edge stitch), p1 *k2, p2* repeat from *to* to last 4 sts, k2, p1, k1 (edge stitch).

Row 3: Work as row 1.

Row 4: Work smock pattern as follows: k1 (edge stitch), p1, *insert the right needle between 6th and 7th st on the left needle, wrap the yarn as if to k and draw up a loop, place the loop onto the left needle and k it tog with 1st st on the needle, k1, p2, k2, p2*. Repeat from * to * 3 times in total. Insert the right needle between 6th and 7th st on the left needle, wrap the yarn as if to k and draw up a loop, place the loop onto the left needle and k it tog with 1st st on the needle, k1, p2, k2, p1, k1 (edge stitch).

Row 5: Work as row 1.

Row 6: Work as row 2.

Row 7: Work as row 1.

Row 8: K1 (edge stitch), p1, k2, p2, *insert the right needle between 6th and 7th st on the left needle, wrap the yarn as if to k and draw up a loop, place the loop onto the left needle and k it tog with 1st st on the needle, k1, p2, k2, p2*. Repeat from * to * 3 times in total. K2, p1, k1 (edge stitch).

Repeat row 1-8, 3 times in total. Work row 1-7. On the next row, bind off loosely from the RS.

Measure the swatch. It should measure approx. 14 x 14 cm. If the swatch is too small, try again with slightly bigger needles. If the swatch is too big, try again with slightly smaller needles. Keep swathing until you obtain the right measurements.

Materials: 1 round cushion without cover, Ø= aprox. 40 cm.
