SOFTNESS – HIGH DURABILITY – THE FINEST COTTON SPECIES - QUALITY - STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®

Pimabomuld 2/8 is a super soft cotton, imported from Peru. The cotton fibers come from the seeds of the cotton bush (Gossypium). The Pima cotton plants mainly grows in northern Peru, where the combination of the earth, the equator sun and the water from the rivers, makes the Peruvian Pima cotton one of the finest cotton species to be found in the world. The cotton is hand-picked 3 times a year.

The fibers of the Pima cotton are so long and fine, that it must be hand-picked to avoid getting it tangled up. The fibers have an almost silky shine and results in a delicate and soft cotton yarn.
Because of the long fibers of the Pima cotton, the yarn does not need to be twisted as many times, therefore, the yarn remains soft.

The extra long fibers are included in the group of cotton called ELS (extra long staple). The long fibers of the cotton increases the quality and causes, that they do not fray as easy – also known as peeling tendency. This makes Pimabomuld very lasting, and a durable cotton of the finest quality.
Pima cotton has higher strengths and durability than almost any other cotton, furthermore, it is more resistant to shrinkage and fading.

The Pima cotton is coloured according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® in solid and unique colours, specially made for CaMaRose.

The softness of the Pima cotton makes it very suitable for baby, children’s and adult knitwear, or for those who prefer cotton instead of wool. I have made a lot of knitwear in Pimabomuld for my children and have designed and written a lot of patterns for Pimabomuld by now. Customers often mistake Pimabomuld for being wool, because of its softness. My experience is, that many knitters prefer wool over cotton, because they think cotton gets hard after washing. This is also the case with a LOT of cotton on the market, but the Pimabomuld also stands out here and remains soft, wash after wash. So, if you have a fright for cotton and have not tried the Pimabomuld, I am sure, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Pimabomuld keeps well in use and after washing and does not get hard after getting washed. I have a lot of customers statement on this by now. Just like it is important to wash wool with the correct detergent, it is just as important to wash cotton with the right detergent, containing enzymes and is specially developed for cotton. I will recommend washing the finished work at 30-40o C.

The recommended gauge is 28-30 sts per 10 cm on a 2.5-3 mm needle. The length is 200 meters per skein (50 grams). You can buy my Pimabomuld at some of my retailers.

I hope you will enjoy my Pimabomuld just as much as I do.

Best wishes, Trine Bertelsen
